A Freelance Host and Businessman Arrested For Podcast Episode That Touched On 3R

SHAH ALAM, Aug 7 (Bernama) -- Police confirmed the arrest of two local men following a report received regarding a podcast episode that allegedly touched on religious sensitivities.

North Klang District Police Chief ACP Ramsay Embol said his department received the report on August 5 before the arrests of a freelance host and a businessman, aged in their 30s and 60s respectively, were carried out yesterday.

"Police have received a report regarding a video clip of a podcast created by two individuals discussing the issues of secular and liberal ideologies.

"This video clip was uploaded onto social media platforms where the podcast content touches on religious issues involving elements of Race, Religion, and Royalty (3R)," he said in a statement today.

Ramsay added that the police are committed to conducting investigations professionally, transparently, and fairly, while advising the public not to make any speculations or spread information that could compromise the investigation process.

The case is being investigated under Sections 298, 504, and 505(b) of the Penal Code, Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, and Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948.
