SUBANG JAYA, Oct 1 (Bernama) -- The British Malaysian Chamber of Commerce (BMCC) today recognised 23 outstanding nominees at the 7th BMCC Business Excellence Awards (BEA) for their performance, innovation and impact on the United Kingdom (UK)-Malaysia business landscape

This year's awards received 49 submissions across seven categories, for their achievements across business growth, strategic partnerships, talent, environment, social and governance (ESG), technology and innovation, K12 education, and small and medium enterprise (SME) development.

Among the 23 nominees, AstraZeneca Sdn Bhd received the UK-Malaysia Business of the Year award after investing more than RM600 million over the past five years and positioning  Malaysia as a regional hub for clinical research, healthcare innovation, and global business services.  The company has created over 1,000 jobs and became Malaysia's No. pharmaceutical company in 2026. 

Universiti Malaya and Pearson received the UK-Malaysia Partnership of the Year award for their innovative collaboration through the PTE x Universiti Malaya Scholarship Programme. 

BMCC chair Nik Tasha Nik Kamaruddin said the award reflected the strong UK-Malaysia collaboration in practice and underscores the importance of strengthening such partnerships.

"Excellence is not simply about achieving strong results; it is about creating value that lasts - for businesses, people, and the wider economy.  Congratulations to all our winners and nominees for raising the bar and demonstrating what is possible when ambition is matched by innovation, resilience, and collaboration," she said in a statement.

Negeri Sembilan Tunku Besar of Seri Menanti, Tunku Datuk Seri Ali Redhauddin Ibni Tuanku Muhriz, and Minister of Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Steven Sim Chee Keong were among the dignitaries present. Also present were British High Commissioner to Malaysia Ajay Sharma as well as BMCC Co-Patron and Sunway Group founder and chairman Tan Sri Dr Jeffrey Cheah.

Established in 2018, the BMCC Business Excellence Awards underscore the breadth of opportunities within the UK-Malaysia commercial relationship.

As for other award recipients, Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) was honoured with the ESG Excellence Award for embedding sustainability into its core business strategy and delivering measurable environmental, social and economic impact.

PwC Malaysia received the Talent Excellence Award, recognising its people-centric approach to building a future-ready workforce. 

YTL Group was honoured with the Technology and Innovation Excellence Award for building Malaysia's sovereign artificial intelligence (AI) ecosystem.

The K12 Excellence Award was presented to Nexus International School Malaysia for its commitment to developing globally minded and socially responsible learners through its global citizenship and service-learning programmes. 

The SME Excellence Award was awarded to London School of Business and Finance (LSBF) College for its rapid growth and contribution to Malaysia's ambitions as a regional education hub.
