KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 1 (Bernama) -- Five individuals were arrested, and various food products and liquids believed to be alcohol, with a total estimated value exceeding RM1 million were seized during the integrated operation, codenamed "Op Taring Alpha 5" in Subang Jaya this morning.
Bukit Aman Wildlife Crime Control Bureau/Special Investigation Intelligence (WCB/PSK) commander Datuk Mohd Zaki Ashar said the raid was conducted at 11.30 am at the Subang Industrial Park, Subang Jaya, in collaboration with the Petaling District Health Office (Ministry of Health), the Royal Malaysian Customs Department (JKDM) and the Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ).
He said that during the operation, authorities seized 118 types of food products made in China, as well as 23 boxes containing various liquids believed to be Chinese-made alcohol suspected of evading customs duties, with the total value of the seized items estimated at RM1,022,635.20.
He also said that one local individual and four Myanmar nationals, acting as supervisors, workers, and the premises manager, were also detained.
"Inspections of the premises revealed non-compliance with the law, including offences under the Food Act 1983, Customs Act 1967 and Immigration Act 1959/63," he said in a statement here today.
According to him, the success of the operation highlights the importance of inter-agency cooperation and coordination in addressing the distribution of non-compliant goods, particularly when a single premises is involved in multiple violations falling under the jurisdiction of different agencies.
He said the integrated operational approach allows for comprehensive enforcement actions, covering not only criminal and smuggling aspects but also food safety, premises licensing compliance, and customs and immigration enforcement.
“WCB/PSK will continue to strengthen strategic cooperation with relevant agencies through information sharing, intelligence-led actions, and integrated operations to combat activities that could compromise the interests and safety of the public and the nation,” he also said.
