KOTA BHARU, Sept 29 (Bernama) -- The Sultan of Kelantan, Sultan Muhammad V, has called on the state government to intensify efforts to attract more international tourists through integrated promotion, strategic partnerships, and the development of high-impact tourism products.
He said such efforts are crucial to strengthening Kelantan’s position as a world-class tourism destination while leveraging the state's unique heritage, culture, and tourism offerings.
Sultan Muhammad V noted that Kelantan's tourism sector continues to grow, having recorded 12 million domestic visitors and 6.5 million tourists in 2025.
He remarked that this achievement demonstrates tourist confidence in the unique heritage, culture, and tourism products offered by the state.
"I hope the state government will continue to intensify efforts to attract more international tourists through more integrated promotion, the strengthening of strategic partnerships, and the development of high-impact tourism products, including world-class medical tourism," he said.
He said this in his royal address in conjunction with the celebration of his 57th birthday at Istana Balai Besar here today.
He also welcomed the development of international flight routes connecting Kelantan to overseas destinations such as Jakarta and Singapore.
In this regard, Sultan Muhammad V expressed hope that more new flight routes would be established in the future to enhance accessibility to Kelantan as an international tourist destination.
