Bermaz Auto 1Q Net Profit Rises To RM40.51 Mln

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 10 (Bernama) -- Bermaz Auto Bhd's net profit increased to RM40.51 million in the first quarter ended July 31, 2026, from RM8.27 million in the same quarter last year, supported by higher domestic sales volume for its Mazda models.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the automotive group attributed the higher profit to improved financial performance from its associated companies.

Revenue for the quarter also rose to RM553.08 million from RM491.28 million last year, driven by higher sales volume, particularly the Mazda3.

"The increase was, however, partly offset by lower sales volume from its Kia domestic operations following the cessation of the distributorship in November 2025 versus the preceding financial year's corresponding quarter," it said.

On prospects, the company expects inflationary pressures, ongoing geopolitical conflicts and weaker global growth to continue impacting the Malaysian economy. The influx of Chinese-brand vehicles with aggressive pricing has also resulted in inventory overhang and a disorderly pricing environment characterised by continuous discounting.

“The group managed to cushion the impact with the launch of completely built-up (CBU) models such as the Mazda3 and the Xpeng G6 and X9, which were well received by consumers," it said.

Its upcoming launches are the CBU Mazda CX5 2.5G and the CBU Mazda CX-80 3.3G mild hybrid electric vehicles. The group expect both to be well received.

Despite the changing environment, it remains positive about maintaining its competitive position and profitability for the current financial year ending April 30, 2027.
