KUANTAN, Sept 1 (Bernama) -- Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has urged the state government and relevant agencies to step up flood prevention efforts at an early stage, particularly as the state enters September.

According to a post on the Pahang Sultanate’s Facebook page today, Al-Sultan Abdullah called on the relevant parties to immediately focus on cleaning and deepening drains and ditches, especially in areas frequently affected by floods.

“His Royal Highness also decreed that the relevant parties ensure flood mitigation projects currently being implemented in stages proceed smoothly and are completed according to the stipulated schedule,” the post said.

According to the post, the Sultan of Pahang made the decree at the Presentation of Instruments of Appointment and Oaths of Office Ceremony at Balai Mahkota, Istana Abdulaziz, here today.

Meanwhile, Al-Sultan Abdullah also called on the state government and agencies involved to continue monitoring and taking action against illegal land encroachment throughout Pahang more effectively, firmly and prudently, in accordance with the law.

“His Royal Highness also expressed gratitude that developments in court cases involving illegal land encroachment appeared to be in favour of the Pahang state government,” the post said.
