KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 1 (Bernama) -- Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil expressed his condolences over the tragic accident in Temerloh that claimed the lives of four individuals, including a family of three, who were on their way back to Kuantan after attending the National Day celebration in Putrajaya.

Through a post on Facebook, Fahmi also extended his condolences to the families of the victims who were killed in the accident, which also resulted in three others being injured in the collision involving 11 vehicles at Kilometre 110.4 of the East Coast Highway 1 (LPT1) (eastbound) in Lanchang, Temerloh, near the Temerloh Toll Plaza exit.

"May the families of the victims involved be granted strength and resilience in facing this loss," he said.

The three family members who perished were Muhammad Nazatul Nazmi and his wife Nur Atiqah Sofiya Mohd Kazwan Kassim, both 32 years old, and their four-year-old son Muhammad Armaan Nazeef. The three of them, in a Proton S70, were returning to Kuantan.

Another victim who died was Seow Beng Wain, 55, from Kota Kemuning, Shah Alam, Selangor, who was a passenger in a Honda CR-V.

The incident around 10 pm yesterday involved four cars, three sports utility vehicles (SUVs), a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), a pickup truck, one tanker truck and a bus.

Preliminary police investigations found that the accident was believed to have been caused by the tanker truck, carrying cement, losing control before colliding with several other vehicles that were moving slowly.
