KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 24 (Bernama) -- The Maulidur Rasul celebration should be observed by commemorating the birth of Prophet Muhammad and emulating his sirah, character and Sunnah (teachings and practices) as guidance in all aspects of life.
In a Facebook post, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi expressed hope that Maulidur Rasul 1448H would continue to nurture the Muslim community’s love for the noble Prophet.
"I extend my Maulidur Rasul 1448H greetings to all Muslims. May this celebration continue to foster our love for the Prophet, strengthen our bonds of brotherhood, and inspire us to become a community that brings mercy and goodness to society at large, Insya-Allah," he said in the post.
Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said the Maulidur Rasul celebration is not merely about recalling the Prophet's biography or reciting the “salawat”; rather, it is about embodying the “Sunnah” and character of the Messenger of Allah within oneself and in one's daily lives.
He said Prophet Muhammad serves as the qudwah and uswatun hasanah, or the best role model, in demonstrating compassion, trustworthiness, justice, patience and ihsan.
“The Prophet also demonstrated how differences can be managed with wisdom, how brotherhood can be preserved, and how a society can be built upon mutual respect and harmonious living,” he said.
Fadillah urged Muslims not to allow differences and disagreements to become sources of division, but instead to choose compassion over hostility, wisdom over emotion, brotherhood over discord and noble character over conflict.
He said these values align with this year’s Maulidur Rasul theme, “Madani Dihayati, Ummah Diberkati”, which calls on Muslims to translate trustworthiness, benevolence, courtesy and mutual respect into their daily lives while strengthening unity.
Fadillah also encouraged Muslims to emulate Prophet Muhammad in their work, family life, community interactions and civic responsibilities.
“May Malaysia continue to be safeguarded by Allah SWT with peace, unity and harmony, and may all its people be blessed with a prosperous and blessed life,” he said.
