KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 24 (Bernama) -- Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil has congratulated Melaka Governor Tun Mohd Ali Rustam on his 77th birthday.
Writing on Facebook, Fahmi expressed his best wishes for Mohd Ali and his family, praying for their continued health and well-being.
“On behalf of everyone at the Communications Ministry, I pray for Allah SWT’s continued mercy and blessings for Tun and his family,” Fahmi said.
Born on Aug 24, 1949, in Bukit Katil, Melaka, Mohd Ali was appointed the seventh Melaka Governor on June 4, 2020, and was reappointed for a second term in 2024.
An experienced figure in Malaysian governance, he served as Melaka’s ninth Chief Minister from 1999 to 2013.
At the federal level, he served as Deputy Health Minister in 1999 and Deputy Transport Minister from 1995 to 1999.
Meanwhile, Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir also extended his birthday greetings to Mohd Ali.
In a Facebook post, he offered prayers for Mohd Ali’s continued good health and long life as he continues serving the state and its people.
“May Tun’s service and contributions continue to serve as an example, and may Melaka continue to achieve progress and prosperity for all its people,” he said.
