SHAH ALAM, Aug 23 (Bernama) -- Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari has denied the authenticity of a viral poster announcing a special public holiday to mark the state’s victory at the 2026 Malaysia Games (SUKMA).
In a post on Threads, Amirudin said any official announcement on the matter would be made during the SUKMA closing ceremony tomorrow (Aug 24) at Aneka Walk, Section 14, here.
"Any prior announcements or information circulating are fake and completely untrue. Please take note and remain patient," he said.
Earlier, State Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneurship Committee chairman Mohd Najwan Halimi was reported as saying that the state government would consider declaring a special public holiday if the Selangor contingent emerged as the overall champion at the Games.
He said the decision would only be announced after the final medal tally had been confirmed, with Selangor currently in a strong position to secure the overall title.
