In the final action at the Ideal Convention Centre (IDCC) Shah Alam, 18-year-old Putri Nurrafqistina Damia faced no trouble defeating Terengganu representative Fu Chervyn 2-0, thus clinching her second gold medal in the SUKMA after managing to do so in the previous edition from the 49kg category.
"Actually, I just found out that I had won the gold medal for Perlis. I feel happy to be able to win the gold medal for Perlis," she said when met after the match, adding that the decision to change the weight category was made to try something new.
"I thought the higher category would be easier, but actually it was quite difficult, however I feel happy to have won and made my parents and also the coaching team back there proud," she said.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Rafiqqie Danish Md Roshidi followed in the same footstep when he successfully clinched gold in the Under-74kg category.
The 21-year-old athlete faced no trouble defeating his opponent B. Arun Raj from Terengganu 2-0 to present Perlis' second gold.
