Former Broadcasting DG Abdul Rahman Hamid Passes Away at PPUM Today Due To Illness

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 10 (Bernama) -- Former Broadcasting Director-General Datuk Abdul Rahman Hamid passed away due to a lung infection at the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (PPUM) this evening.

His son, Mohamed Reza, when contacted by Bernama, confirmed that the deceased, aged 73, drew his last breath at 5:51 pm, after receiving treatment at the hospital for about a month.

He said that his father had also been placed in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for two weeks.

"His remains are expected to be buried in Bandar Nusaputra, Puchong, tomorrow morning," he said.

Abdul Rahman shouldered the responsibility as the Director-General of Broadcasting for six years, from 2003 to 2009.
