KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 10 (Bernama) -- A seven-year-old Indonesian boy is feared drowned after falling into a river at Persiaran Subang Indah, near a supermarket in Subang Jaya, tonight.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Operations Assistant Director Ashrul Riezal Asbar said the department received an emergency call about the incident at 8.06 pm.
He said a team from the Subang Jaya Fire and Rescue Station was dispatched to the scene and arrived 10 minutes later.
“Based on the initial report from the Operations Commander, the victim is believed to have fallen into the river at about 6.30 pm while playing with his friends,” he said in a statement today.
According to him, the search and rescue operation using surface-water search methods around the area was facing challenges due to the relatively strong river current.
“The Water Rescue Team from the Shah Alam Fire and Rescue Station has also been called in to assist with the search operation,” he added.
