KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 5 (Bernama) -- Warisan KL has launched Xplorasi Warisan KL: Merdeka Edition, a heritage adventure that invites Malaysians to retrace the nation's journey to independence through historical landmarks in the capital.
The programme, which will be held on Aug 30, will begin at Stadium Merdeka, where independence was proclaimed in 1957, before participants conclude their journey at Dataran Merdeka, where the Jalur Gemilang was first raised.
In a statement today, Warisan KL said the exploration combines elements of discovery, teamwork and interactive challenges through activities such as heritage missions, puzzles, photography challenges, stamp collection, digital challenges and creative activities.
"Participants will travel through the heritage corridor while uncovering stories of history, resilience and nation-building along the way.
"This initiative reflects Warisan KL's mission of reconnecting communities with the capital's heritage, fostering a shared sense of identity and pride, and transforming heritage spaces into dynamic destinations for learning, engagement and community participation," the statement said.
Warisan KL said participants will conclude the journey by joining the Merdeka Eve celebrations at Dataran Merdeka, featuring cultural performances, a bazaar, entertainment and the National Day countdown.
Xplorasi Warisan KL: Merdeka Edition is open to the public, including families, students, corporate teams, heritage enthusiasts, content creators and tourists, with participation limited to 65 teams.
Registration is now open, with places allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
