LABUAN, Aug 3 (Bernama) -- The Labuan Public Works Department (JKR) today officially handed over a new Vehicle Inspection Workshop to the Automotive Engineering Division of the Labuan Road Transport Department (JPJ), marking the completion of the RM500,000 project.
Labuan JKR director Mohd Faizul Ali Hanapiah said the facility would strengthen Labuan JPJ’s capacity to conduct vehicle inspections more efficiently, systematically and with greater integrity.
He said the project, which began on Oct 23, 2025, was fully completed on July 10 this year.
“The workshop is equipped with a scissor lift, air compressor, customer service counter and other supporting infrastructure to enhance the efficiency and quality of Labuan JPJ’s vehicle inspection services.
“It provides Labuan JPJ with a more conducive and systematic facility to carry out inspections while improving its overall service delivery to the public,” he told Bernama after the handing-over ceremony here today.
Mohd Faizul said the workshop was designed in a modern industrial style incorporating JPJ's corporate identity and a tropical functional concept, while prioritising operational efficiency, durability and flexibility to accommodate future requirements.
The project was designed entirely in-house by Labuan JKR's professional team, demonstrating the department's technical expertise and capability in delivering high-quality government infrastructure.
Mohd Faizul said that despite logistical constraints, difficulties in sourcing construction materials and weather-related challenges typical of the island, the project was completed successfully through close collaboration between the Ministry of Transport (MOT), Labuan JPJ, Labuan JKR, the contractor and other stakeholders.
He added that the project’s successful completion and handover also reflected JKR’s new image under the principle of “Delivery Is Our Priority”, which places effective project implementation, quality and the needs of the people at the forefront of its services.
