KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 3 (Bernama) -- Bursa Malaysia eased further in line with regional markets at mid-morning amid the latest developments in the West Asia conflict.

At 11.01 am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 0.94 point lower to 1,723.96 from last Friday’s close of 1,724.90.

The benchmark index opened 0.36 point higher at 1,725.26.

The broader market was negative, with losers outpacing gainers 451 to 389, while 494 counters were unchanged, 1,396 were untraded and 20 suspended.

Turnover totalled 1.13 billion shares worth RM630.06 million.

It was reported that Asian stock markets fell on Monday after US President Donald Trump cancelled the planned military strikes on Iran amid efforts to reach an agreement involving the Strait of Hormuz.

Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index inched down 0.08 per cent to 25,864.34, Japan’s Nikkei 225 dropped 1.74 per cent to 63,240.51, Singapore’s Straits Times Index eased 0.32 per cent to 5,610.27, while South Korea’s KOSPI Composite Index declined 4.09 per cent to 6,325.51.

Among the heavyweights, Maybank edged down four sen to RM10.86, Public Bank and IHH Healthcare were two sen lower each to RM5.15 and RM8.33, respectively, CIMB Group was two sen higher to RM7.91 and Tenaga Nasional lost eight sen to RM14.52.

Among active stocks, KSL Holdings gained two sen to RM2.92, RT Pastry was half-a-sen higher at 14 sen, Infomina edged up one sen to RM1.47, but Hartalega Holdings eased one sen to RM1.01 and Pentech Holdings was flat at 28 sen.

Leading gainers included Nestle, which climbed RM1.50 to RM102.60, Malaysian Pacific Industries rose 84 sen to RM46.84, AmBank advanced 21 sen to RM6.97, while UWC and Hong Leong Industries rose 14 sen each to RM6.49 and RM17.86, respectively.

On the losers' list, Fraser & Neave shed 36 sen to RM27.54, Petronas Chemicals fell 19 sen to RM4.59, Bintulu Port Holdings slipped 16 sen to RM5.34, Dutch Lady Milk Industries declined 10 sen to RM32, and Keck Seng eased nine sen to RM5.10.

Among the broader indices, the FBM Emas Index reduced 0.51 points to 12,751.28, the FBM Top 100 Index lost 2.91 points to 12,582.20, but the FBM Mid 70 Index climbed 12.55 points to 18,148.34.

The FBM Emas Shariah Index retreated 5.33 points to 12,590.96, while the FBM ACE Index surged 22.49 points to 4,997.17.

By sector, the Industrial Products and Services Index slid 1.35 points to 187.39 and the Energy Index slid 0.52 points to 765.20, while the Financial Services Index improved 15.28 points to 20,342.93 and the Plantation Index added 23.27 points to 9,311.85.
