International Healthcare Week Returns To Bangkok With 950 Exhibitors

KUALA LUMPUR, July 2 (Bernama) -- More than 950 exhibitors from over 35 countries are set to converge in Bangkok next week for the International Healthcare Week (IHW) 2026, reinforcing Thailand’s ambition to strengthen its position as Southeast Asia’s healthcare and medical manufacturing hub.

Organised by Informa Markets, the event will be held from July 8 to 10 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre (QSNCC) and will bring together two major co-located exhibitions, namely World Health Expo (WHX) Bangkok and Medtec Southeast Asia 2026.

Informa Markets regional portfolio director (ASEAN) Rungphech Chitanuwat said WHX Bangkok, a leading international trade exhibition for medical devices, laboratory equipment, and healthcare services, and Medtec Southeast Asia, the region’s premier platform for medical device design and manufacturing, will be held simultaneously under the IHW umbrella.

She said the event, themed “Thailand Gateway to Southeast Asia Health Hub,” aligns with the Thai government’s Ignite Thailand strategy to establish the country as a regional centre for healthcare and medicine.

“Technology highlights this year include a real-time AI system for 12-lead ECG analysis on mobile devices, liquid biopsy technology capable of detecting 21 types of cancer from a single blood sample, an AI-powered system for diagnosing antibiotic resistance in sepsis patients within hours, a blood-based Alzheimer's diagnostic test, and manufacturing innovations including automated injection,” she said in a statement.

Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (Public Organisation) Senior Vice President, Dr Jaruwan Suwannasat, said international trade exhibitions function as a strategic platform to channel global investment, expertise, and partnerships into tangible economic value and long-term growth opportunities.

She said Thailand’s readiness across multiple fronts, including world-class infrastructure and a strong exhibition ecosystem, positions the country to connect industry stakeholders effectively while strengthening its role regionally and globally as a sustainable medical and wellness hub.

Meanwhile, Thai Subcontracting Promotion Association (ThaiSUBCON) president Chanin Khaochan said Thailand’s medical device industry must evolve beyond its traditional role as an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and move towards becoming an innovation owner to achieve sustainable growth and stronger global recognition.

He said Thai manufacturers must continue to uphold the highest ethical and quality standards, which remain fundamental to the healthcare industry.

The event will feature international pavilions from seven countries, including Malaysia, South Korea, Germany, Poland, Taiwan, Thailand, and the United States.

More than 125 conference sessions will also be held alongside the exhibition, covering topics including artificial intelligence (AI) and future healthcare trends, business transformation, healthcare management, and scientific developments in radiology, pathology, microbiology, infection control, clinical chemistry, and laboratory management.

Supporting organisations include the Ministry of Public Health, Department of Health Service Support, Food and Drug Administration, National Science and Technology Development Agency, National Innovation Agency, Federation of Thai Industries, Technology and Innovation in Life Sciences National Agency, ThaiSUBCON, and Thailand Printed Circuit Association.
