Indian High Commission Issues Revised OCI Card Guidelines

KUALA LUMPUR, July 2 (Bernama) -- Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card holders are now required to update their new passport details within 90 days of renewing their passport, following revised guidelines issued by the High Commission of India in Kuala Lumpur.

In a statement posted on its social media platforms, the High Commission said OCI card holders must update their new passport details through the OCI website under the "miscellaneous services" category within 90 days of renewing their passport.

"Update of passport particulars within 90 days of renewal can be undertaken online without any charges. It is hereby clarified that the process can be entirely carried out online," the statement said.

However, it said updates attempted after the 90-day period would only be approved upon payment of a prescribed fee of RM113.13 at the High Commission of India in Kuala Lumpur.

The statement said the payment can be made at the mission's cash counter after applicants book an appointment under the "OCI passport late update" category, instead of the normal OCI appointment category, and provide the online file reference number.

Meanwhile, the High Commission also announced a change to the validity of OCI cards issued under the spouse category.

It said fresh OCI card applications processed under the spouse category will be issued with an initial validity of five years.

Thereafter, renewal of the OCI card will be subject to a personal interview of the couple at the High Commission of India in Kuala Lumpur.

The revised guidelines and appointment details are available on the official OCI portal and the High Commission's appointment website.
