KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 17 (Bernama) -- Musicians for Malaysia (MfM) raised RM85,500 through its recent Rocking for a Cause charity showcase to support musicians in need while honouring the contributions of veteran performers.

In a statement, MfM said the fourth edition of its Benefit Showcase, held at Kelab Golf Negara Subang in Petaling Jaya, Selangor brought together 560 guests and recognised 21 veteran musicians for their contributions to Malaysia’s music industry.

“Through Rocking For A Cause, MfM continues to champion musicians’ welfare, recognise the contributions of veteran artistes and encourage sustainable opportunities for musicians across Malaysia,” the statement said.

Among those honoured were Alfred Ho, Tinoy Soliano, Radha Krishnan, Frankie Tan, Ruzlan Omar, Rusli Musif, also known as Olie of Heavy Machine, and Royston Sta Maria.

Other recipients included Kenny Tay, Kathleen Rodrigues, Bonnie Jeremiah, Richard Joseph and MfM president Francis Danker, with all 21 honourees receiving plaques in recognition of their contributions.

The showcase featured performances by Datuk Francissca Peter, Royston Sta Maria, Electric Orgasm, Goblokes, Heavy Machine and Lighthouse with Vijay David, among others.

Francissca performed her popular hits, including Sekadar Di Pinggiran and Oo La La Tropika, while Royston, who flew in from Perth, Australia, reunited with Shuib of Freedom to perform Mulanya Di Sini in a segment that also paid tribute to the band’s late original lead singer, Seha Abu Bakar.

Electric Orgasm also celebrated its 50th anniversary at the event, which drew musicians and supporters from several states, as well as guests from the United States, New Zealand and Australia.

“By bringing the music community together, MfM hopes to ensure that those who have entertained generations are not forgotten when they need support the most,” the statement added.
