SEREMBAN, Oct 16 (Bernama) -- A Road Transport Department (JPJ) personnel was killed, another seriously injured, while two lorry drivers suffered injuries in a three-vehicle accident, including a JPJ car, at Kilometre 256.1 northbound on the North-South Expressway (PLUS), near the Senawang exit, yesterday.
Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said the 42-year-old JPJ officer suffered head injuries and was confirmed dead at the scene in the 10.30 pm incident.
He said the deceased’s 32-year-old colleague, who also suffered severe injuries to his head and several parts of his body, is receiving treatment at Tuanku Ja’afar Seremban Hospital (HTJS).
“Initial investigations found that the two Negeri Sembilan JPJ personnel were inspecting a motoloader carrying a cabin load on the emergency lane when a lorry carrying dry food products approached from behind.
“However, the lorry lost control and failed to avoid the vehicles, crashing into the rear of the JPJ car and the motoloader,” he said in a statement today.
Alzafny said the impact left the lorry driver and the motoloader driver, both men aged 44 and 48 respectively, with injuries to their legs and bodies, adding that both are receiving treatment at the HTJS Emergency Department.
He said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and urged those with information about the incident to contact investigating officer Insp Syakinah Ahmad at 06-6033394 or to go the nearest police station to assist with investigations.
