MyEG-Zetrix Issue: MACC Receives Complaint, To Cooperate With Police

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 13 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has received an official complaint concerning MyEG and Zetrix AI Bhd and will cooperate with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), which is investigating the matter.

In a statement today, MACC said it received the complaint on Oct 7 and would review and share information with PDRM on offences under the police's jurisdiction.

“PDRM will channel any information to the MACC if there are elements of corruption for further action by the commission. The MACC also welcomes the cooperation of any party to provide further information regarding the issue.

“The MACC urges all parties not to speculate about the investigation or spread unverified information that could affect the investigation process,” it said.

The commission stressed that it would act independently, fairly and in accordance with the law.

On Oct 5, Transport Minister Anthony Loke announced the suspension of MyEG and Zetrix AI Bhd as collection agents for the Road Transport Department (JPJ) after the two companies failed to remit RM314 million in collections to the government for the period from May 19 to Sept 30.

Loke said the action was taken after the companies failed to settle the outstanding amount despite 35 reminders and a series of engagements with the authorities since May.
