KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 9 (Bernama) -- The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) will optimise the use of allocations under Budget MADANI 2027 to strengthen operational readiness, enhance enforcement capabilities and address increasingly complex digital crime threats.

Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail said PDRM was committed to ensuring that every allocation was utilised efficiently and with integrity to improve the effectiveness of police service delivery.

He said PDRM appreciated the RM22 billion allocation to the Home Ministry (KDN), including RM7.1 billion for the procurement and maintenance of security forces’ assets.

The construction of the 19th General Operations Force (GOF) Battalion Complex in Cheras and three new police stations in Melaka, Perak and Sarawak are also expected to strengthen the force’s infrastructure and operational capabilities.

In efforts to curb digital crime, Mohd Khalid welcomed the development of an artificial intelligence (AI) application by the National Scam Response Centre (NSRC), as well as the enhancement of the Malaysia Internet Crime Against Children system by PDRM’s D11 division.

He said these initiatives could strengthen the prevention and early detection of online scams, while enhancing protection for children against the threat of sexual exploitation.

“PDRM also welcomes the RM1.1 billion allocation to enhance the operational capabilities of enforcement agencies in addressing increasingly complex security challenges,” he said in a statement tonight.

In terms of welfare, he also welcomed the increase in the allocation to RM2.3 billion for the construction and maintenance of public servants’ quarters, which he believed would improve the well-being and motivation of police personnel.

Mohd Khalid also welcomed various initiatives related to the welfare of public servants and retirees, including Special Financial Assistance of RM1,500 for civil servants and RM750 for retirees, improvements to the Ex-Gratia Waris Pukal benefits, and an increase in the minimum pension rate to RM1,350 a month.

He also welcomed the initiative to provide special promotion opportunities under the Khas Untuk Penyandang (KUP) scheme to 12,000 officers in the Management and Professional Group, as well as improvements relating to maternity leave and an increase in allowances for police volunteers.
