PUTRAJAYA, Oct 9 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) has been allocated RM6.355 billion under Budget 2027, an increase of RM266.74 million from this year, to strengthen the housing agenda, upgrade public facilities, improve community well-being and enhance fire and rescue services preparedness nationwide.

In a statement today, it said key initiatives included increasing the allocation for small projects in local authority (PBT) areas to RM700 million to upgrade parks, public toilets and stalls, including the construction of MADANI stalls.

Projects to be redeveloped include the Jalan Chui Yin Hawker Complex in Bentong, Pahang; Buntong Market in Ipoh, Perak; and the Hill Trace hawker site in George Town, Penang.

"A total of RM320 million has also been allocated to repair and upgrade slopes, drains and ditches in local authority areas nationwide,” it added.

In the housing sector, KPKT said it had allocated RM1 billion for the Rumah Mesra Rakyat and Program Residensi Rakyat schemes, including the implementation of four new housing projects in Kulai, Johor; Nilai, Negeri Sembilan; Paya Rumput, Melaka; and Lembah Pertang, Terengganu.

In addition, the Housing Credit Guarantee Scheme (SJKP) will provide financing guarantees of up to RM20 billion to assist 80,000 first-time housebuyers, particularly the self-employed without a fixed income.

The ministry said Perbadanan PR1MA Malaysia (PR1MA) would develop Bandar MADANI Bukit Jalil as an integrated residential area equipped with amenities, including a vertical school.

"To improve community well-being, RM100 million has been allocated to repair and rebuild dilapidated facilities in Chinese New Villages, while RM80 million has been set aside for the maintenance and upgrading of registered non-Muslim houses of worship nationwide,” it added.

Meanwhile, Minister of Housing and Local Government Nga Kor Ming said the government remains committed to ensuring every allocation directly benefits the people.

"KPKT's priority is to ensure that every ringgit spent brings direct benefits to the people, in terms of providing safer and more comfortable housing, quality public facilities, more efficient local authority services and more prosperous communities,” he said.
