KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 9 (Bernama) -- Budget 2027, tabled by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today, reflects the government's concern for urban residents' well-being through an allocation of RM400 million for Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Hannah Yeoh said the allocation would be used to create 120 new green spaces, conserve existing parks, upgrade public facilities and preserve Kuala Lumpur's heritage.

“This includes providing covered walkways and pedestrian paths, which DBKL will implement next year, as well as continuing the Lestari Niaga programme and repainting People's Housing Projects (PPR) to improve residents' well-being,” she told reporters after the tabling of Budget 2027 in the Dewan Rakyat today.

She also welcomed the announcement that a 40-hectare parcel of leasehold land in Bukit Kiara would be gazetted as a Federal Park for public use.

“More than 200 acres (81 hectares) in Bukit Kiara had previously been gazetted as a Federal Park, but the remaining 40 hectares will also be gazetted for that purpose next year,” she said.

Meanwhile, Hannah said the Prime Minister's announcement on an entertainment duty exemption for tickets to local films and theatre performances in the Federal Territories, effective next year, could help stimulate the local creative industry.

“Local artistes have many programmes in the Federal Territories, and this will help the industry,” she said.

Earlier, Anwar said the measure was part of efforts under Budget 2027 to strengthen the local creative industry, with the government also allocating more than RM130 million to support the local film, music and creative content sectors.
