KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 9 (Bernama) -- Through Budget 2027, the MADANI Government announced allocations for the states to ensure that the concept of equity is embraced in a reasonable and fair manner for the advancement of all citizens.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that Khazanah and InvestPenang will establish a RM100 million Strategic Investment Fund to support semiconductor and advanced manufacturing companies in their early stages of growth.
He said the federal and Selangor governments are allocating RM100 million to develop retention ponds and carry out river maintenance to mitigate flood risks, which includes assessing the capacity of the Batu and Klang Gate dams for the next 30 years.
“In Perak, the development of LuMIC as a maritime hub in Lumut is being intensified to attract investment and create jobs. The Automotive Hi-Tech Valley in Tanjong Malim is being positioned as a regional automotive hub."
“The government is granting a tax deduction of up to RM5 million on relocation costs for expenses incurred between Jan 1, 2027 and Dec 31, 2030 to encourage fully locally-owned automotive vendor companies to relocate their operations to LuMIC and the Automotive Hi-Tech Valley,” he said while tabling Budget 2927 in the Dewan Rakyat today.
Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister, said the government has agreed to implement the Elevated Autonomous Rail Transit (e-ART) system to address traffic congestion in Johor Bahru.
He noted that leading up to the launch of the Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link, the government would increase the routes and frequency of stage buses, boost the frequency of KTM Komuter services, and provide Grab Shuttle services in key areas.
“In Melaka, the government is committed to mitigating flood risks through the implementation of the River Restoration Project and the Sungai Rambai Flood Mitigation Plan (RTB); additionally, the Melaka Centre of Excellence is creating dignified employment opportunities for the people of Melaka through educational training and high-tech Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).”
“In Negeri Sembilan, the MADANI Government is complementing development with infrastructure such as a new road from KL International Airport (KLIA) to Bandar Enstek, the upgrading of the Pajam-Nilai-Salak road, and the implementation of the Klang Valley Dual Track 2 project,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister also said that the government is developing infrastructure at the Chuping Valley Development Area in Perlis and the Northern Corridor Economic Region (NCER) Agribio Economic Zone. He added that the Perlis Inland Port would also be equipped with scanning machines to facilitate trade and strengthen border security.
“In Kedah, the Kulim Hi-Tech Park attracts global semiconductor investments that create skilled jobs and business opportunities for the people of Kedah, while the ‘Five Seasons of Rice Cultivation in Two Years’ project within the Muda Agricultural Development Authority (MADA) area continues to be prioritised to boost yields and farmers' incomes.
He added that the MADANI Government supports development along the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) alignment, encompassing heavy industry in Bentong and public housing near the KotaSAS station in Pahang.
“In Kelantan, the government will initiate planning for the Lebir Dam Project as a long-term solution, alongside the construction of the Machang Water Treatment Plant and the ongoing replacement of aging pipes.
“In Terengganu, key tourism products such as Setiu Wetlands, Lake Kenyir, Pulau Tenggol, and Pulau Bidong are being upgraded. At the same time, the well-being of the people is being prioritised through the construction of a Regional Sewage Treatment Plant and a sewerage pipe network in Kuala Terengganu,” he said.
