YEMEN, Oct 9 (Bernama-Anadolu) -- Turkish Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH) aims to provide food parcels, hygiene kits, shelter and cash assistance to 1,400 families in Yemen, where the humanitarian crisis has deepened, according to a statement by the foundation on Friday, Oct. 9, Anadolu Ajansi reported.
Civilians in Yemen, where clashes have occurred between government forces and the Houthis, are facing severe hardship due to mass displacement, food insecurity, rising prices, declining healthcare capacity and severely restricted access to humanitarian aid, the statement said.
Recent clashes have further worsened conditions in Yemen, which is facing one of the world's most severe humanitarian crises.
According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs' (OCHA) 2026 Yemen Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan, more than 22 million people in the country need humanitarian assistance and protection services.
Data published by international organisations indicate that more than 185,000 people have been displaced since September, when clashes intensified.
Emergency food parcels, hygiene supplies and household items are urgently needed as food stocks in the country have been depleted.
The lack of clean drinking water, emergency toilets and waste management in newly established temporary settlements is also increasing the risk of disease outbreaks.
IHH has launched a new aid initiative following the latest clashes. In the first phase, the foundation aims to support 1,400 families in Yemen's Aden, Lahij and Taiz regions with food parcels, hygiene kits, shelter and cash assistance.
The initiative also aims to provide clean drinking water to 8,000 people.
