SEREMBAN, Oct 8 (Bernama) -- The Negeri Sembilan 2027 Budget will be tabled on Nov 27 despite the absence of the state executive councillors (Exco), Menteri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim said.

He said the State Legislative Assembly sitting, which was scheduled to begin on Oct 16, had been postponed to allow sufficient time to prepare the budget.

“The proposal is for the state assembly sitting to be officially opened on Nov 26, followed by the tabling of the budget on Nov 27, with the sitting continuing the following week for the debate until Thursday,” he told reporters here today.

He said this after presenting appointment letters to the chairmen and secretaries of the Negeri Sembilan Village Development and Security Committees (JPKK) here today.

Ismail said a budget consultation involving all 25 government bloc assemblymen would be held soon to take into account the views of elected representatives in preparing the budget.

He said the absence of the Exco members at present would not affect the administration of the state government as matters relating to their respective portfolios were still being handled by government departments.

In his speech, Ismail gave the assurance that he would continue to lead the state administration with resolve to ensure the people’s welfare remained a priority.

“I am aware that in the course of a state’s development, we will face various challenges.

“What is important is how we face them with calmness, maturity and the courage to find solutions,” he said.

He also sought the support and prayers of the people so that the challenging period could be navigated with wisdom and unity.
