KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 8 (Bernama) -- A Myanmar national was arrested in Taman Maluri, Cheras, here yesterday on suspicion of murdering a fellow countryman.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said the suspect, an unemployed man in his early 30s with no prior criminal record was arrested along with a pair of scissors believed to have been used as the murder weapon.
He said the victim, who was in his early 20s, was pronounced dead at 10 am at Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM) due to severe abdominal injuries.
“Acting on information, a police team from the Criminal Investigation Division of the Cheras District Police Headquarters (IPD) successfully arrested the prime suspect at a premises in Taman Maluri at about 12 noon,” he said in a statement today.
Fadil said the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code, and a remand application for the suspect will be submitted today to facilitate further investigations, including the post-mortem examination at HCTM Forensic Centre.
