IPOH, Oct 6 (Bernama) -- Digital Perak Corporation Holdings has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Spark Capital Development Bhd (SCDB) to establish a comprehensive Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and artificial intelligence (AI) ecosystem in the state.
Perak Science, Environment and Green Technology Committee chairman Teh Kok Lim said the strategic investment to establish the ecosystem involved total financial commitments projected to reach RM7.5 million over three years.
The partnership, beginning this year, would centre on the establishment of a STEM AI Hub at Digital Perak’s Innovation & Multimedia Hub (HiM) at Mydin Mall, Meru Raya.
“Under the collaboration, the existing makerspace at HiM will be fully upgraded with FlowLogic6 stations, interactive learning kits and Internet of Things (IoT)-based prototyping equipment.
“In the initial stage, the initiative will involve 100 teachers in four cohorts through the STEM AI Digital Educator Pilot Programme, as well as a five-day or 40-hour Basic TVET-AI Educator Programme based on the prescribed framework.
“In the long term, HiM will be developed as a state STEM AI training and certification reference centre, supported by three satellite hubs in several districts in Perak, with a target of producing 1,000 trainers and 300 Technical and Vocational Education and Training-AI instructors, while exposing 30,000 students to STEM AI,” he said.
Teh was speaking at a press conference after witnessing the MoU signing between Digital Perak chief executive officer Mohamad Suhaimi Mohamad Tahir and SCDB chief operating officer K. Mohanraj, held in conjunction with the Perak State Innovation Convention 2026 at Stadium Indera Mulia here today.
Teh said the strategic investment to establish the ecosystem involved total financial commitments projected to reach RM7.5 million over three years.
“From an implementation perspective, the project combines Digital Perak’s ecosystem support and provision of space with SCDB’s expertise in learning modules and content,” he said.
Teh said the initiative also aligns with the Perak Sejahtera 2030 aspirations and the state’s digital economy agenda, particularly in developing competitive local talent to meet the needs of the manufacturing and agriculture sectors, as well as smart city development.
“This effort is not merely about providing early exposure to modern technology, but also about building a network of educators and students who are capable of creating, innovating and supporting the continued growth of Perak’s digital economy,” he said.
