Prophetic Legacy Should Remain A Guide In Navigating Today’s Challenges - Perlis Raja Muda

KANGAR, Oct 6 (Bernama) -- The Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, said the sunnah (traditions and practices) of Prophet Muhammad should continue to guide people through the modern world's increasingly complex and uncertain challenges.

Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra said the prophetic legacy of Prophet Muhammad PBUH contains practical guidance and principles for building a peaceful, just and prosperous society.

He said the world faces uncertainties, including humanitarian conflicts, economic pressures, rapid social change, and technological advances that also challenge human values, identity, and community life.

“In today’s reality, social instability, conflict, cybercrime, technological disruptions and the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) require us to revisit the approaches and methods demonstrated by Prophet Muhammad PBUH,” the Raja Muda said.

The Perlis Raja Muda said this when officiating the 10th International Prophetic Heritage Seminar (SWAN X) 2026 at the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Centre in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, according to a statement issued by Istana Arau today.

Raja Puan Muda of Perlis Tuanku Dr Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil and their daughter, Hajah Sharifah Farah Adriana Jamalullail, were also in attendance.

The royal family was received by Samarkand Region Governor Adiz Boboev. Malaysia’s Ambassador to the Republic of Uzbekistan, Rafedah Abdul Aziz, was also present.

Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra also stressed that everyone shares a responsibility to bring the current generation closer to Prophet Muhammad’s sunnah and draw on them for guidance in addressing the challenges they face.

Meanwhile, Istana Arau said SWAN X 2026 was organised by the Faculty of Quran and Sunnah Studies at Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM), in collaboration with Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin International Islamic University (UniSIRAJ), the Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs) and several other strategic partners.

It said the prestigious academic conference brought together scholars, academics and researchers from various countries to explore approaches and solutions to contemporary challenges based on Islamic tradition and heritage.

Held under the theme “Warisan Nabawi Dalam Menerajui Era Ketidakstabilan Global” (Prophetic Heritage in Leading Through an Era of Global Instability), SWAN X 2026 focuses on applying the teachings and legacy of Prophet Muhammad PBUH as a framework for navigating the geopolitical, social and economic challenges of the modern world.

“International delegates also presented their research findings covering various sub-themes related to Prophetic heritage and contemporary issues,” the palace said.

Selected high-quality papers will be published in Scopus- and MyCite-indexed journals and compiled in the official e-proceedings, helping bridge the gap between traditional Islamic scholarly heritage and the requirements and standards of contemporary academia, it added.
