GEORGE TOWN, Oct 6  (Bernama) -- The Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) has recorded 162,730 approved transactions as of Sept 15 since introducing its Corporate Registry System (CRS) on July 14 to improve digital corporate registration services.

Its acting chief executive officer Rezy Izwan Ramly said the transactions included 9,514 new company incorporations.

He said the system was part of SSM’s ongoing efforts to modernise corporate registration services in the country.

“To facilitate filing matters, SSM has also extended the waiver of late filing fees through CRS until Dec 31, 2026, to give stakeholders more time to complete the relevant filings and fulfil their compliance obligations,” he said in a statement today.

The statement was issued following the SSM 2026 Annual Dialogue for the Northern Zone, which was officiated here today and attended by more than 240 participants comprising company directors, company secretaries, professional bodies, business associations and government agency representatives.

The programme included briefings on CRS, the Compliance Clinic initiative and the 2026 Statutory Document Recovery Campaign, as well as a presentation on proposed amendments to the Companies Act 2016 relating to the Sustainability Reporting Framework. It also featured an explanation of Practice Directive 11/2026 on the filing of shareholder and share capital information.

The Northern Zone session was the first for 2026, with subsequent sessions scheduled in Kuching, Sarawak on Oct 12 and Kota Kinabalu, Sabah on Oct 14.
