KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 6 (Bernama) -- Months of training, early-morning runs and personal milestones culminated on the streets of Kuala Lumpur as 40,000 runners from 70 countries came together for the Kuala Lumpur Standard Chartered Marathon (KLSCM) 2026, with ASICS Malaysia bringing performance, recovery and community into the race-weekend experience.

Held on Oct 3 and 4, KLSCM 2026 saw ASICS return as the event’s official footwear and apparel partner for the second consecutive year, expanding its presence with the debut of ASICS House, dedicated Cheer Zones and ASICS Roving Truck, alongside the launch of its ASICS x KLSCM 2026 merchandise collection.

ASICS Malaysia Country Manager Boon Tib Soom Nik said while runners arrived at KLSCM with different goals, race day brought them together in a shared experience.

"Every runner comes to KLSCM with a different goal, but on race day, we all share the same streets and the same spirit of moving forward. This year, we wanted to create an even bigger experience around that journey," he said in a statement today.

Boon said the ASICS House gave runners a space to recharge and connect, featuring cold-plunge recovery baths, a Personal Best Wall and other activities.

For the first time at KLSCM, the ASICS Roving Truck also made stops around Kuala Lumpur ahead of race day before making its final stop at the KLSCM Cheer Zone to support runners.

On the course, ASICS athlete Daren James Nair Rodney James won the Malaysian Men's category of the ASICS Half Marathon in 1:13:44, while Yu Hui Khiing finished second in the Malaysian Women’s category in 1:33:08.

ASICS Malaysia Female Brand Ambassador Allison Yee Phui Se took third in 1:37:00, while Lee Siok Chin won the Malaysian Women's Veteran category of the Full Marathon in 3:19:07.

Daren, competing in his half marathon after taking part in the 10km event last year, said the challenging route was made memorable by the crowd support.

“The preparation went well and I was happy to see it translate into a good result. The route was challenging, but the last stretch was definitely the best part, especially with the crowd cheering us on,” he said.

ASICS Malaysia also unveiled its RUNKL apparel line under the theme "Where the City Meets the Stride", designed by Kota Kinabalu artist and muralist Wilson Ng and inspired by Kuala Lumpur’s running community.
