KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 4 (Bernama) -- Yeo’s launched Yeo’s Teriyaki Tuna in Malaysia for the first time through the ‘Yeo’s Itadakimasu - Tuna with a Twist’ campaign held at The Starhill Ground Floor Piazza, Bukit Bintang, yesterday.
Yeo’s Malaysia general manager Tan Mei Yen said the product launch reflected the company’s commitment to continuously exploring new flavour inspirations in line with changing consumer tastes and lifestyles.
“Yeo’s has always been driven by innovation in line with changing consumer tastes and lifestyles. From being among the first in Malaysia to introduce canned chicken curry to offering flavours that have become favourites among Malaysians, we continue to explore new flavour inspirations to offer fresher and more relevant choices to consumers,” Tan said in a statement.
Yeo’s Teriyaki Tuna features tender tuna paired with a savoury and sweet teriyaki sauce, while Yeo’s also introduced a new variant, Yeo’s Chilli Spicy Tuna.
Tan said the introduction of the tuna products also took into consideration their acceptance among consumers in Malaysia, while offering convenient food options that are easy to prepare.
According to Yeo’s, tuna is the fourth most frequently consumed marine fish among respondents surveyed in Peninsular Malaysia as part of a nutrition and dietary study.
Based on a report by the Department of Fisheries, 431,000 kilogrammes of tuna worth RM7.76 million were brought into Penang in 2024, more than double the amount recorded in 2023.
“We are aware that Malaysians enjoy food that is convenient, versatile and delicious. With Yeo’s Teriyaki Tuna, consumers can enjoy the savoury taste of teriyaki in their daily meals, whether eaten on its own, paired with rice or noodles, or used to create their own recipes.
“In addition to offering a new flavour, Yeo’s Teriyaki Tuna is also high in protein and a source of Omega-3, providing consumers with a balanced and nutritious food option,” she said.
The three-day campaign, held from Oct 2 to 4, also featured various Japan-themed activities, including special dishes featuring Yeo’s Teriyaki Tuna, a stamp-collection station, a Japan-themed photo booth, Gashapon games and a cosplay competition.
Meanwhile, Yeo’s is also organising the ‘Yeo’s To Japan Contest - Win Tickets to Japan’ from Oct 1 to Nov 30, with 12 lucky winners to be selected.
