KOTA TINGGI, Oct 3 (Bernama) -- Barisan Nasional (BN) is open to discussions on the form of cooperation with any political party for the Melaka state election, including anyone interested in using the coalition’s logo, said UMNO vice-president Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.
He said the matter, however, must be based on BN’s policy decisions and the decisions of its top leadership.
“I am answering in general terms. If, for example, any party is prepared to contest using the BN logo, we would very much welcome it.
“But this is subject to the fundamental decisions (of the leadership),” he told a press conference after attending the groundbreaking ceremony for the additional building of the Islamic Orphans’ Hostel here today.
The 28-seat Melaka State Legislative Assembly was dissolved on Sept 23 to pave the way for the 16th state election.
The Election Commission will hold a special meeting on Oct 7 to discuss arrangements for the state election, including key dates such as nomination day and polling day.
