LABUAN, Oct 3 (Bernama) -- The Wira MADANI Programme brought together personnel from various agencies under the Home Affairs Ministry (KDN) here today, providing a platform to strengthen camaraderie, teamwork and closer inter-agency relations.
Home Affairs Ministry secretary-general Datuk Dr Awang Alik Jeman said the programme was aimed at fostering good rapport among personnel while nurturing a stronger sense of togetherness beyond their formal working environment.
He said although personnel served in different agencies and carried out different responsibilities, they shared the same broader objective of serving the people and safeguarding the country's interests.
“The programme provides an opportunity for personnel from the various agencies to come together in a more relaxed environment, get to know one another better and strengthen the spirit of teamwork.
“Good relationships among personnel are important as the nature of our responsibilities often requires close cooperation, communication and coordination across agencies,” he said this when officiating the Wira MADANI Outreach Programme and Inculcation of Noble Values Programme at Labuan International School here today.
Awang Alik said the involvement of family members and children also made the programme more inclusive and helped strengthen ties within the wider KDN community.
He said sports, recreational and family-oriented activities could cultivate teamwork, discipline, communication and mutual understanding among personnel, while allowing family members to gain a better appreciation of the roles and responsibilities shouldered by them.
Various activities were organised for children, including a colouring competition, candy-collecting activity and slingshot competition.
For adults, the activities included a ping-pong ball carrying race, giant clog race, team race, coconut bowling and tug-of-war competition, while lucky draws were also held.
Awang Alik said such programmes were important in building stronger personal and professional relationships, which could ultimately contribute to smoother coordination when agencies were required to work together in carrying out their duties.
He also assured personnel serving under the ministry's agencies in Labuan that they would continue to receive due attention despite the island's geographical distance from major administrative centres.
“Personnel in Labuan, Kota Kinabalu and Kuching remain an important part of the Home Affairs Ministry family and should never feel left out or overlooked.
“We will continue to ensure that their welfare, professional development and working needs are given proper attention,” he said.
Awang Alik said the programme reflected the ministry's commitment not only to building an effective workforce, but also to creating a cohesive and supportive working environment among its agencies.
The programme incorporated elements of public service delivery, community engagement, sports, recreation and family activities.
