RTS Link Passenger Service Expected To Begin In February 2027

JOHOR BAHRU, Oct 2 (Bernama) -- Passenger service for the Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link is expected to commence in February 2027, with all system tests and trial runs targeted for completion by Dec 31 this year.

RTS Operations Pte Ltd (RTSO) said in a statement today that the timeline takes into account the expected duration of the remaining works, as well as the time required for safety certification by a third party and approvals from the grantors of both countries.

“Our goal is to provide a safe and reliable service on the RTS Link,” it said.

The RTS Link, an important bilateral project between Malaysia and Singapore, will connect Bukit Chagar in Johor Bahru with Woodlands North in Singapore.

Upon completion, the service will have a peak capacity of up to 10,000 passengers per hour in each direction, with the journey between the two stations expected to take about five minutes.

Co-located Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) facilities will also be provided at both Bukit Chagar and Woodlands North stations, allowing commuters to clear immigration at their point of departure.

RTSO said the project is expected to significantly improve cross-border connectivity and facilitate daily travel between Johor Bahru and Singapore.

The RTS Link is also expected to strengthen people-to-people ties and generate shared economic and social benefits for both countries.
