KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 2 (Bernama) -- The Transport Ministry (MOT) has warned the public and service providers to be alert to individuals impersonating ministry officers and using fake government orders and procurement documents.
The ministry said in a statement today that the individuals had misused the names, identities and positions of its officers for this purpose.
“MOT stresses that all ministry procurement is carried out in accordance with the government’s prevailing financial and procurement procedures through official channels and systems, including the eProcurement System.
“Therefore, any government order or procurement document that cannot be verified through official channels is invalid and does not represent MOT,” the statement said.
The ministry advised suppliers, contractors and service providers not to provide goods or services or conduct financial transactions based on suspicious documents or instructions until the ministry verifies their authenticity.
Service providers with any doubts about the authenticity of documents or Government Orders received are advised to contact the MOT Call Centre at 1-800-88-7723 or via the official email address aduan@mot.gov.my.
The ministry also urged anyone who receives suspected fake documents or suffers losses from the scam to lodge a police report immediately and retain all related documents and communication records for investigation.
“MOT takes the misuse of the names and identities of its officers seriously and urges all parties to remain vigilant and verify any dealings involving the ministry through official channels before proceeding,” it added.
