KOTA KINABALU, Oct 2 (Bernama) -- An allocation of RM1 million has been channelled to build five infrastructure projects in Kampung Rampayan, Manggatal, following its selection as Universiti Malaysia Sabah’s (UMS) MADANI Adopted Village.
In a statement today, UMS said the funds from the Prime Minister's Department (JPM), channelled through the Higher Education Ministry, were used to meet the local community's needs on a nearly 0.4-hectare site.
UMS Vice-Chancellor Datuk Dr Kasim Mansor said the completed projects - a village arch, an open hall, a community centre, solar lighting and a fisherman's hut - would serve as a foundation for continuous cooperation in education and entrepreneurship.
Kasim noted that the university strictly adhered to all set procedures and governance guidelines to ensure the successful delivery of the projects.
"This is so that our children, the future generation, are not left behind in all aspects, namely education and entrepreneurship," he said.
Kasim expressed hope that the initiative would positively impact the local socio-economy and establish UMS as a leader in the MADANI Adopted Village programme, a nationwide initiative coordinated by the Finance Ministry and JPM's Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU).
