KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 1 (Bernama) -- Malaysia’s bilateral relations with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) continue to strengthen, with recent high-level visits by the King and Queen of Malaysia further cementing the longstanding partnership, said the Malaysian Embassy in the UAE.
Malaysian Ambassador to the UAE Tengku Datuk Sirajuzzaman Tengku Mohamed Ariffin highlighted the development in his address at a reception held in Abu Dhabi on Sept 30 to commemorate Malaysia’s 69th National Day and 63rd Malaysia Day.
“Recent high-level visits by His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen of Malaysia have further cemented this vital partnership,” he said.
In a statement on Thursday, the embassy said the reception was attended by Dr Omar Al Darei, Chairman of the UAE’s General Authority of Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat, and attended by members of the diplomatic corps as well as the Malaysian diaspora.
Tengku Sirajuzzaman also highlighted Malaysia’s continued progress under the theme “Malaysia MADANI: Kesejahteraan Dinikmati” (Malaysia MADANI: Shared Prosperity), while reaffirming the country’s commitment to strengthening its international engagements.
He said Malaysia’s “Visit Malaysia” tourism campaign had been extended through 2027, with the country continuing to position itself as a destination for major international events and tourism.
“Malaysia will host the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix at the Sepang International Circuit from Oct 2 to 4, 2026,” he said, highlighting the country’s continuing appeal as a global tourism and events destination.
Amid ongoing regional challenges, Tengku Sirajuzzaman reaffirmed Malaysia’s steadfast commitment to international law, diplomacy and the protection of civilians, while expressing profound gratitude to the UAE government for safeguarding the Malaysian diaspora in the country.
The embassy said the resilience of Malaysian families affected by the regional conflict was reflected through traditional dance and martial arts performances by children of Malaysian families based in Al Ruwais and Abu Dhabi.
The Ambassador also paid a solemn tribute to the late Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali, honouring her life and contributions to Malaysia, as the reception brought together Malaysians and friends of Malaysia to mark the country’s National Day and Malaysia Day.
