KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 1 (Bernama) -- Emerging Markets Global Advisory LLP (EMGA) has arranged a 100 million euros debt financing facility for Brazil-based BTG Pactual, supporting the bank’s expansion of sustainable and impact-orientated financing initiatives in Brazil. (1 Euro = RM4.62)
The facility was provided by Compañía Española de Financiación del Desarrollo (COFIDES), Spain’s development finance institution, providing BTG Pactual with an additional source of long-term funding.
“We are delighted to have once again delivered a competitively priced funding solution for BTG Pactual,” said EMGA Managing Director and Head of Investment Banking, Sajeev Chakkalakal in a statement.
Chakkalakal said the facility will support BTG Pactual’s sustainable finance activities and reinforce its position in Brazil’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) and climate finance sectors, while demonstrating EMGA’s ability to arrange financing solutions in Brazil amid global macroeconomic uncertainty and market volatility.
Meanwhile, EMGA Managing Director and Head of Operations, Jeremy Dobson said the facility provides BTG Pactual with greater long-term funding diversification while strengthening its ability to support sustainable economic development in Brazil.
He added that EMGA has facilitated nearly US$2 billion of investment into Brazil to date, where it has developed deep expertise and longstanding relationships across the financial sector.
“Despite ongoing global uncertainty, Brazil remains one of our most important markets, and we continue to see significant opportunities to mobilise international capital in support of sustainable growth and development," said Dobson.
BTG Pactual is the largest investment bank in Latin America and the sixth-largest bank in Brazil by shareholders’ equity, providing loans and guarantees to clients ranging from small and medium-sized enterprises to large corporations. The bank also promotes climate finance and directs capital towards projects with environmental and social impact.
EMGA, which has offices in London and New York, advises financial institutions and corporates on debt and equity capital solutions. The firm said its team has closed more than US$11 billion of debt and private equity transactions across emerging and frontier markets.
