KANGAR, Oct 1 (Bernama) -- The Inland Revenue Board (HASiL) in Perlis is stepping up efforts to improve tax literacy among the public through a series of educational and advisory programmes throughout October.
State HASiL director Mohd Affendi Ayub said the initiative, carried out through the HASiL Literacy Tour, is the main highlight of the Bulan HASiL 2026 programme aimed at engaging the local community, entrepreneurs and industry players.
"Through this programme, we are going to the ground to meet the public and industry players to improve their understanding of taxation and boost voluntary compliance," he told a press conference after launching the state-level Bulan HASiL 2026 here today.
He said the Bulan HASiL 2026 Literacy Tour Carnival will be held at a shopping mall here on Oct 9 and 10, featuring various activities, including tax exploration, advisory services and social experiments, alongside a blood donation drive and Rahmah MADANI Sales.
Mohd Affendi said the HASiL Month 2026 also focuses on the Voluntary Disclosure Programme, which now comprises three initiatives: the Income Tax Voluntary Disclosure Programme, the e-Invoice Special Voluntary Programme and the Stamp Duty Special Voluntary Disclosure Programme.
"We have received inquiries from taxpayers regarding these voluntary disclosure programmes and hope more will take up this opportunity.
“Taxpayers in Perlis are also encouraged to report tax evasion through the official MyTax platform via the e-Pelarian Cukai feature," he said, adding that the implementation of e-Invoicing is expected to increase tax compliance and reduce revenue leakage through a system that tracks transactions more quickly and effectively.
