KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 1 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of National Unity, through the Department of Museums Malaysia, is holding the Malaysian Karst Heritage Exhibition at the National Museum to raise public awareness of the importance of preserving caves and karst landscapes as part of the country’s natural heritage.

National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang said the exhibition, running from today until Dec 31, showcases the geological wonders, biodiversity, archaeological discoveries, and the historical and cultural significance of caves and rock formations that have existed in the country for millions of years.

He said caves and karst landscapes are more than natural formations; they preserve traces of life, history, and heritage that help tell Malaysia's story.

“The exhibition aims to raise public awareness of the importance of caves and karst areas as part of the country’s natural heritage, given their geological, biodiversity and archaeological value, while strengthening conservation efforts for the benefit of science, education, history, culture and tourism,” he said in a post on his official Facebook page today.

Aaron said the government remained committed to revitalising museums as centers of knowledge, while ensuring the country’s heritage remained relevant and could be appreciated by present and future generations.

He also encouraged the public to visit the exhibition with their families to discover and appreciate the country’s unique heritage.

“Bring your family and friends, explore heritage that has been shaped over millions of years and discover a side of Malaysia you may never have known. Come, explore, appreciate and preserve it, because this heritage belongs to all of us,” he said.
