KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 30 (Bernama) -- A businesswoman was charged at the Sessions Court here today with two counts of using a forged document in applications for Temporary Employment Visit Passes (PLKS) at the Immigration Department of Malaysia (JIM) three years ago.
Vanessa Charmaine, 55, pleaded not guilty after the charges were read out before Judge Suzana Hussin.
She was alleged to have committed the offences at the Kuala Lumpur Immigration branch on March 21 and June 12, 2023.
The charges were framed under Section 471 of the Penal Code, punishable under Section 465 of the same law, which provides for a maximum two-year jail term, a fine, or both upon conviction.
Deputy public prosecutor Irna Julieza Maaras prosecuted, while the businesswoman was represented by counsel Shahidah Muslimah Roslan.
The court allowed bail at RM20,000 with one surety for both charges and fixed Oct 29 for mention of the case.
