KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 18 (Bernama) -- Heavy rain, thunderstorms and strong winds are expected to hit parts of nine states across the country until 8 pm today, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).
In the northern and central regions, the affected areas include Kuala Muda, Yan, Pendang, Sik, Baling and Kulim in Kedah; Seberang Perai Utara and Seberang Perai Tengah in Penang; Hulu Perak in Perak; as well as Jerantut, Maran, Bera, Bentong, Temerloh and Raub in Pahang.
On the east coast, the warning covers Kelantan (Jeli, Tanah Merah, Kuala Krai, Pasir Puteh, Machang, Kota Bharu, Pasir Mas, Tumpat and Bachok) and Terengganu (Besut, Setiu, Kuala Nerus, Kuala Terengganu, Marang and Hulu Terengganu).
Southern states will also experience similar weather, specifically in Jelebu and Jempol in Negeri Sembilan, as well as Mersing, Kluang and Kota Tinggi in Johor.
Meanwhile, thunderstorms are forecast in Sabah's interior (Pensiangan), Tawau (Kalabakan and Lahad Datu), Sandakan (Labuk and Sugut, Kinabatangan, Sandakan, Telupid and Paitan), and the west coast (Ranau).
