KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 15 (Bernama) -- Malaysian women’s top singles player S. Sivasangari has advanced to her maiden semi-final at a Platinum-level PSA Squash Tour event after her opponent, Tinne Gilis, withdrew from their quarter-final at the Qatar Classic 2026 in Doha today.
According to the PSA Squash Tour, the world No. 5 was originally scheduled to meet the Belgian in the quarter-finals, but Gilis was forced to pull out due to injury.
Sivasangari will now face Egypt's Hania El Hammamy, who advanced via a walkover after compatriot Nouran Gohar was also forced to pull out of her quarter-final match due to injury.
Hania is currently ranked world No. 1, while Sivasangari has secured only two wins in their 11 previous encounters.
Those two victories came in 2017 and 2024.
