KUANTAN, Sept 15 (Bernama) -- The Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, has ordered mosques across the state to perform solat sunat hajat (prayers of need) and Istisqa' (prayers for rain) amid the haze and rising Air Pollutant Index (API) readings in several areas.
His Royal Highness said the effort was an endeavour by Muslims to seek help and blessings from Allah SWT so that rain would fall to help alleviate the haze and improve air quality.
"The people of Pahang, especially Muslims, are encouraged to pray together so that Allah SWT will send rain that brings blessings, cleanses the air and ends the haze currently affecting several areas," he said in a post uploaded on the Pahang Sultanate's Facebook page.
It was reported that five areas in Pahang recorded API readings at unhealthy levels as of 4 pm today, namely Indera Mahkota Kuantan (167), Temerloh (163), Jerantut (163), Balok Baru Kuantan (162) and Rompin (154).
