MEDAN, Sept 15 (Bernama) -- Six of the best papers from the 36 presented at the International Conference on Next-Generation Digital Technologies (NEXT-D) 2026 will be published in leading journals indexed by Scopus and Web of Science (WoS).
Faizuddin Centre of Educational Excellence (FCoEE) executive chairman Prof Emeritus Datuk Dr Kamarudin Hussin said the papers, spanning digital technology and AI, will serve as future references for academics and industry players.
"We conclude that AI is hugely important. It is not just something we learn to make it easier to find information; it has become an ecosystem that will reshape the way we live, especially how our children learn at universities and schools.
"This extends to the community, political leaders and others. So FCoEE has pursued topics that make an impact on high-discipline fields, and we have produced several highly impactful papers," he said when met by Malaysian media here last night.
Organised by FCoEE and Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU), NEXT-D was held at the university here from Sept 12 until yesterday.
The Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, officiated the closing ceremony yesterday.
Themed "Transforming the Digital Landscape With Emerging Technologies," NEXT-D drew more than 200 global experts, academics and industry players.
NEXT-D 2026 focused on the role of advanced technology in driving the transformation of the global digital landscape and served as a platform for academia, industry and stakeholders to exchange knowledge, research and expertise.
