KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 14 (Bernama) -- Former national footballer Safee Sali and former national men’s doubles player Koo Kien Keat are among sports personalities who are expected to feature in the human-piloted humanoid robots competition - New Dawn MY - at the Pavilion Arena, Pavilion Damansara Heights here on Oct 3.

According to a statement by organiser Shadow Combat League (SCL), New Dawn MY, which is part of the league, will feature seven bouts across a three-hour live experience, with four preliminary fights and three main-card championship bouts.

Described as Southeast Asia's first live teleoperated humanoid combat league, each bout will run for up to 15 minutes, or until a machine stops getting back up, creating a format designed around action, unpredictability and live competition.

“Three titles will be contested on the night: ICON (for celebrities and entertainers), GLADIATOR (real-life fighters or martial arts exponents) and NETRUNNER (geeks, tech enthusiasts, gamers and corporate professionals).

“Each champion will take their belt home and return next year to defend it against a new generation of challengers,” it said.

Other personalities across sports, entertainment and digital media who will feature in the event are Malaysian actress Daniella Sya, Malaysian actor Daniel Fung and global social media influencer from Tajikistan Abdu Rozik.

SCL founder Dr Ian Tan Wei Lun said in the same statement that he believes audiences will see a completely different kind of fight night, featuring real humanoids, real pilots and real competition, as well as three titles on the line.
