Six Gunung Gerah Hikers Found, Receiving Treatment At Pos Kemar Klinik Kesihatan

GERIK, Sept 7 (Bernama) -- Six individuals who were found safe after participating in the Trans Gerah expedition at Gunung Gerah, Kelantan, were safely brought out by the search and rescue (SAR) team tonight.

The Gerik district police chief Supt Abdul Samad Othman said the rescue team brought all the hikers out of the Kem Kulim and arrived at Kampung Lelar at around 8.45 pm.

"All the victims are currently receiving treatment at the Pos Kemar Klinik Kesihatan and are in good condition without any injuries," he said in a statement today.

He said all the victims had previously gathered at Kem Kulim with the rescue team before continuing their journey to Pos Kemar.

He said that the operation to bring out the victims was also assisted by mountain guides from Perak and Kelantan, involving 10 members.

Previously, Wan Ahmad Aslam Wan Zairudin, 39, and his wife Siti Zulaiha Norizan, 39, along with their children Diya Raisha, 13, and Ahmad Raef, 9, as well as two mountain guides Shafiee Sidek, 49, and Hazman Mamat, 43, were reported missing after climbing the mountain on Aug 29.

They were reported to have failed to exit the forest by the scheduled date, which was Sept 3, and family members filed a police report yesterday.
