PUTRAJAYA, Sept 7 (Bernama) -- A former FELDA general manager was brought to the Magistrate’s Court here today to face remand proceedings in connection with an abuse of power investigation involving the appointment of a developer for a project in the capital, as well as the sale of land owned by the statutory body.
The man, in his late 60s, arrived at 9.15 am in a Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) vehicle, wearing a green collared shirt.
He was detained at 4 pm yesterday together with a man in his 50s after they were asked to appear at the MACC headquarters here to have their statements recorded.
Last week, MACC opened seven investigation papers into allegations of misappropriation, abuse of power and corruption involving FELDA and its subsidiary, FELDA Investment Corporation Sdn Bhd (FIC).
MACC chief commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman was reported as saying that the large-scale special investigation, ‘OPS FELLA’, focused on investment transactions and asset acquisitions by the management of FELDA and FIC over 10 years from 2010 to 2020.
Of the seven investigation papers, six new papers were opened on Aug 24, while the remaining one is an old investigation paper that remains active and is undergoing the Mutual Legal Assistance (MLA) process.
The investigation papers cover issues involving the investment in Syarikat Tataran Aras Sdn Bhd, based in Limbang, Sarawak; the acquisition of Grand Borneo Hotel Sdn Bhd in Sabah; and the purchase of Grand Plaza Service Apartments in London.
The investigation also focuses on the establishment of Felda Wellness Corporation Sdn Bhd, the acquisition of Felda House and Grand Felda House, as well as alleged misappropriation in the development of the Kuala Lumpur Vertical City (KLVC) project.
An old investigation paper involving the Park City Grand Plaza property, which remains open and is currently undergoing the MLA process, is also being reviewed in parallel.
